1st Annual Poets' Choice Kukai

Thank you for participating in our First Annual kukai. Looking back on the first year that we moderated the kukai, we thought it would be nice to review the poems that you selected as winners on the monthly entries, and give you an opportunity to choose your favorite haiku of the year.

Congratulations to Carol Raisfeld, whose poem you chose as the best "kigo" entry of the year! She has been sent a $30 gift certificate to Amazon.com from Gary & Jennie.

Congratulations also to Andrea Gradidge, whose poem you chose as the best "free format" entry of the year! She also has received a $30 gift certificate to Amazon.com from Gary & Jennie.

Second place entries from OwenB and Nancy Smith will receive a haiku book that they select from Gary's Library of Duplicates.

The results of the voting have been tabulated and are listed below. As a special treat, our poets were invited to submit comments to accompany their votes. These comments can be viewed by clicking the "Comments" link following each poem.

Remember also as you look at the votes below that EACH of these poems has already been declared a winner by our poets in the monthly contests. Congratulations again to all of them!

In the listing below, after each poem the author is listed, and then a three digit code revealing how many 3-point, 2-point, and 1-point points were cast for this poem by the other participating poets.

(214 = 12) would indicate that the poem above received two 3-point votes, one 2-point vote, and four 1-point votes.
